How Hypnos Creates Content

Hypnos publishes content on dream psychology, symbol interpretation, and the science of the unconscious. Every piece is written to a single standard: psychological accuracy grounded in established scholarship.

    Our Psychological Frameworks

All interpretations and articles on Hypnos are grounded in four established schools of psychology:

    Jungian Psychology

Carl Jung's analytical psychology, including archetypes (Shadow, Anima/Animus, Self), the collective unconscious, and individuation theory. Primary sources: The Collected Works of C.G. Jung.

    Freudian Theory

Sigmund Freud's foundational psychoanalytic model, including dream symbolism, the unconscious, and latent versus manifest content. Primary source: The Interpretation of Dreams (1899).

    Cognitive Science

Contemporary research on memory consolidation during sleep, threat simulation theory, and the role of REM sleep in emotional processing. Primary sources: peer-reviewed sleep and cognitive science literature.

    Modern Psychology

Current clinical frameworks in emotional regulation, attachment theory, and existential psychology, as applied to self-reflection and dream content.

    Who Writes Our Content

Dream interpretation and psychology articles on Hypnos are written by Ron Junior van Cann, the founder and developer of Hypnos Dream Journal. Ron conducted extensive research into all four psychological frameworks in the course of building Hypnos and continues to engage with primary and secondary sources in dream psychology, Jungian scholarship, and cognitive sleep science.

    Our Content Standards

    • All factual claims about psychological frameworks are sourced to primary or peer-reviewed secondary sources.
    • Interpretations are presented as perspectives — not prescriptions. Dreams are personal; no interpretation is definitive.
    • Content is reviewed periodically and updated when new research or user feedback warrants.
    • Where content is assisted by AI, this is noted on the article. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and edited by a human author before publication.
