Psychological meaning
Psychologically, a burning ring dramatizes conflict between attachment and the urge to be free of it. The ring encodes loyalty, identity and belonging; the flame is the part of you that wants release. Your subconscious stages this collision at night because your waking mind refuses to hold both feelings at once.
Jung would read the fire as transformative energy — not simple loss but the burning away of an outdated version of the relationship or self-image tied to it. Shadow material often arrives disguised as damage: the anger, doubt or fatigue you consider unacceptable to feel toward someone you love shows up as flame rather than as words.
There is also an anxiety-processing function here. If you fear a commitment is fragile, or that you might be the one to break it, the dream lets you rehearse the worst outcome in a controlled space. Waking with the ring still smoldering means the tension is active and unresolved, asking for honest attention rather than suppression.
Spiritual meaning
Spiritually, fire is rarely only destruction; across traditions it is the agent of purification. A burning ring can signal that a covenant in your life is being tested and refined, with the dross of pretense and half-truths being burned off so that what remains is genuine.
